Couse description

his course will cover the key aspects of technical bidding and tendering in project management.  It will enable participants to deliver more effective bids and negotiate better contracts and claims.  This course will also look at improving the contribution to the tendering and business development performance, as well as improving the management of bids in projects and business development.  Participants will improve their presentation, communications, leadership skills, and competency.  They will also learn to understand the contracting processes and appropriate strategies for application to specific project bid situations, as well as create, maintain, and enhance effective working relationships.

    Tender Review, Planning, and Clarifications

    To begin with, participants will learn how to effectively review tender documentation and check for full appreciation of requirements, confirm the go or no-go decision meeting, reply to tender of wish to tender, and prepare the bid summary.  Also, the course will outline how to effectively plan the response to the Invitation to Tender (ITT), develop the key areas of clarification, and how to develop the approach to a client.                 

    Day 2

    Draft Bid Compilation

    • Draft solution
    • Estimating and pricing
    • Risk assessment
    • Tender strategy
    • Case study draft bid compilation

    On day two, the course will outline how to prepare or endorse an existing bid plan and then prepare the bid in a draft.  The preparation of the bid will include the initial pricing of the bid and any proposed strategy to the client.         

    Day 3

    Quality, Compliance, and Contracts

    • Blue team review

    • Collaborative working
    • Strategic review

    The learning objectives of day three will be to have participants fully understand the need to continually review the tender or bid all the way through the process.  Also, have participants will need to understand why it is essential to continually check for quality and compliance.              

    Day 4

    Bid Compilation and Presentation

    By the end of the final day delegates should be able to create a bid for submission to a client and be able to present the key points from the bid in a formal environment.           

course methodology

This training course uses both conventional and non-traditional techniques. It utilises small group and facilitated plenary discussions as well as instruction to explore key concepts, models, tools and techniques. Hands-on exercises and case studies are used to practice the application of knowledge and use of skills. Structured reviews provide the opportunity to consider how the learning can be applied to the delegates’ own work.
